Readme.txt Family Photo Album 1.0 - Evaluation Version (Build 103, 10/16/98) Release Notes This file accompanies the evaluation version of this product. The evaluation version is intended to provide the end user a chance to "test-drive" the product for a fixed amount of time, during which the user may purchase the full release version. This evaluation copy will expire 40 days after first use. In addition, due to the evaluation version only being available on the web, the evaluation version has several features removed in order to make the download times more reasonable. These features are: all but the first and last album styles, and album color schemes. Although there is an online, context sensitive help system, a users manual (manual.doc) has also been provided in the installation directory where family photo album was installed. This manual is in Microsoft Word format. Also, in order to allow those new to digital image processing an easier start, a few sample digital photos are installed by default in the ./photos subdirectory of wherever Family Photo Album is installed. Requirements The system requirements for Family Photo Album are as follows: * Pentium 90 or better (for reasonable performance) * at least 16MB or RAM * at least 20MB of available disk space * 640 x 480 color monitor with at least 32k colors available (1024 x 768 or better, with 16.7M colors (24-bit) is recommended for best viewing) * Windows 95, Window 98, or NT 4.0 The family photo album product is currently intended to handle a limited number of image formats. The number of file formats supported will quickly grow in the future, but is currently limited to: * Bitmap (*.BMP) - Greyscale, 8-bit, and 24-bit color formats are currently supported. Note: references to 8-bit and 24-bit color .BMPs are not to be confused with the display adapter settings. * Jpeg (*.JPG) - Normal compressed jpeg is supported. (Multi-scan and other interleaved formats are not supported. Installation from CD-ROM To install Family Photo Album, insert the CD-ROM in the CD drive of the computer on which you wish to install the product. From the Windows "Start" menu, click on "Run". Type in the following: ":/setup.exe", where is the letter assigned to the CD-ROM drive on the computer (ie. D). If you have autorun enabled on your computer, the above steps are uneccessary, and the installation program will start automatically. Once setup is started, you will be asked a few questions regarding whether you would like installation to create a desktop icon, etc. Generally, the defaults are OK.
